    Hydraulic Jackplate questions

Looking to replace the L&S hydraulic jackplate on my Skater. Who makes a nice plate? Does anyone make one that I can use a Merc trim pump with? Thanks...Wil

I like the Atlas Hydraulic Jack Plate by T & H Marine. Very heavy duty but doesn't use a separate pump mounted in the boat.
Stainless Marine and Bob's Machine both use a hydraulic pump mounted in the boat. Both good quality products.

Your local hydraulic supply store can set you up with fittings go from the Mercury pump to probably any jack plate. I use a mercury pump on a CMC. Runs faster than the stock pump.

Which model jackplate did R&R stop making?

That really sucks as they made very high quality stuff. I wonder if they are still making the 3" setback jack for the heavy Verado's.

I have had two Detwilers and I'm not a fan. The little guide rod always snaps off, the oil fill hole is really tough to get to and they are slow. They do last and last but I would not get another one. I have two Paralifts and like those.

R&R does still make the 3" manual plate as I bought one from them last year and its the best quality plate I have ever owned. I like the looks of the CMC but wondered how it would hold up to abuse with the load riding on the 4 big rollers.

Shoot, I guess I better buy a 3" now even though I don't need one! Jackplates are a crowded market so I guess there was just not enough demand for there powered units. Shame.
