    2 stroke viscosity question

Has anyone had to re-jet for different oil at the same ratio? I know most standard marine oils are 20w ,but a lot if not all race oils are 30 or even 40w. I have not had a issue in my 2 cycle bikes ,but there not @5000+ for extensive time.

    Thanks

    Newer oils????

Don't forget, you're diluting it so heavily with gasoline that the viscosity difference is negligible.

That old Formula 50 might not work well in oil injection.

Yes newer oils. Thought of the diluting of gas and maybe this is why some race oils are thicker for film strengh. The Maxima 2 stroke oils I use in my bikes are 30w semi syn. and the other is 40w full syn ester. I asked Maxima oil about using there oil in my outboard as they do make a marine 2 cycle. I said I wanted the best not most cost effective and they recommended the Maxima K2 that is a 40w race motorcycle oil. Have run K2 in my bike and when it was time to do a new top end due to hours it looked like I was wasting money. Piston was very clean and showed very little wear. This is what got me thinking of using one oil for all.

The amount of time I really get to boat the extra $$ for oil doesn't matter.

I run Pennzoil semi syn in all my outboards....Fishing motors seeing 6000 rpms all day long... In my two bridgeports I run Pennzoil full synth at 32:1 at 7500-8000 all day long..never, never a problem.. As Jay Smith about it...If it is good enough for him works for me...Wally world has the semi...on line for the full synth that the Bridgports require......

AmsOil HP syn, NO complaints, clean burn and out powers the non syn Quicksilver without question in a fishing motor. Notice a diff. right away from one to the other . Not sure if it's less friction or doesn't do something to the burn.

Damm, you must be using twice as much as everyone else!!! You've got to follow the instructions. Cool old can, I'd put it back up on the self.
