I have one like Wipper's on the BAJA, great unit. I found with the Pro Max and the 245hp cowels with the bungies the rope would unhook the cowel if not careful. Bought a foam shock sleeve to go over the ropeand hold the rope above the cowel, no more unlatching of the cowel.

The way I understand it the owner of Marine West was once the manager for Dana (sorry, can't remember his name). He left several years ago to start Marine West. Dana was forced into closure due to their shop being ear marked for demo due to a highway upgrade (or something like that). The owner of Marine West basically took over all the tooling and makes everything Dana had before.
I haven't dealt with him yet personally but I hear he is a true stand up guy and very good at his job. In fact I heard Dana's service had severely suffered since his departure.
Id buy something off him in a heartbeat!

On a side note I own a set of Dana HP1100 tabs. Bought them when Marine West guy was there. They are pure eye candy! Their quality is second to none IMO.

I have used a TurboSwing this past year with good results. Not as high a pull point as a Ski Pylon, but designed to pull inflatable's. We did not have any problem with the rope getting in wake on Knee board or tube, unless the knee boarder was very light (less than 75#).

This type of bracket might work well with your transom knees. I'd also want to tie it into the base. I'm not sure that a retractable unit would clear your cowl. You would be better off going with a full removable with a little extra height to not sweat it. Some fughers in Havasu also use it to hold an umbrella when the sun is blazin.

Bracing the pylon is no problem. I just move oil tanK. Could also use top engine bolts and make nice heavy duty bracket. I like Dana pylon. But need to see hardware for it. I think removable is the option. Greg you do know how everyone's boat is builded

This is my setup. Had it custom made but very simple and any machine shop should be able to knock one up. Just a billet bit of aluminium rod turned up on a lathe and a basic fabled up base to anchor to bottom. The whole pole just drops through a hole cut using hole saw in well area and a nice stainless steel dress ring to make it look pretty. I had all mine annodized but you can just polish or powder coat if you wish. I had my pole made too long then just cut down myself to appropriate length. If I wanted to remove it I'd just have to pull that bolt out at base and slide straight out. It looks that good though I'd never remove it!

Judging from the pics I reckon you could just glass a small pad at bottom of bilge and mount base for pole to that? I'm guessing gregs photo is of your bilge and transom?
