Merc 300xs flywheel remove help!!
Hi I need to remove my flywheel on a stock Merc 300xs. I removed the nut and washer and i am trying to pull it out from those 3 bolts and pushing on the crank bolt. With a large enough impact still no response to get out. Do you have any other ideas? shall i try pulling it out from the outside of the flywheel?

What kind of puller are u using. You need the Mercury type puller so as to be able to apply the correct force to it without causing damage. I have used 2 methods that have yet to fail me. Get some good penetrating oil. I use PB Blaster. It even helps on saltwater outboards. Spray it around the shaft liberally. Install the Merc type puller and put as much force as possible on it. Let it sit overnight Next morning i havve gone back and take it off with my fingers ... If not use a SMALL ball peen and start tapping around the wheel. That should do it. Last resort is heat. Wipe up any residue.....install the Merc puller again as tight as possible and heat up around the shaft. Be careful when using the heat for obvious reasons
