    tires for vw jetta, sumitomo?

I need to put some tires on my kids car. My brother owned a jetta for 240k miles and told me a set of sumitomo exceeded the mileage rating by quite a bit. Not trying to be cheap, but any other opinions on a good tire of this style, or the sumitomo itself? Thanks.

More good brands that are low priced are Toyo, Kuhmo and Hankook.
When buying tires be sure to look at the UTQG Treadwear Grade. The higher the number usually means that the tire will last longer.

Hankooks are only good for about 30-40K on a VW Jetta. I work at a VW dealer and see them everyday.

What's up with all these high dollar tires showing no mileage warranty or rating? Seems like the more they cost the less warranty is offered.

OK, OK, wife's 2011 Jetta(170hp) had Hankook Optima which were done at 30K I replaced the with Michelin Defenders with a 800+ wear rating. Son-in-law uses them all the time with good results. On the Jetta there is very little road noise. Been on a year with little wear noticed. My VW Tiguan AWD(200hp) had Continentals Pro Contacts also lasted about 35K miles. Just installed last spring Ventus S1 noble2 (H452) is Hankook’s Ultra High Performance All-Season, so far I like them.
