Hi, from the deep deep deep south.

Back after over ten years away from this forum.

I'd like to share some pictures with you guys of my newly finished Glastron GT150 powered by an 87 Evinrude Looper. Finally got it in the water just before the Christmas break. Took it to lakes Benmore and Aviemore in the high country of New Zeaand's South Island.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah, its a beautiful place to go boating. The lakes were all developed in the 60's by the Benmore Hydro Scheme. I've been going there since I was a child.Click image for larger version.

I'm glad your nephew enjoyed himself. Being a Claims Adjuster wouldn't have been a lot of fun. There was (and still is) a lot of fractured people here after the quakes. In fact those photos were taken when we were out of the house while repairs were being completed.

He saw a lot the devastation but was impressed how so many people still.."kept the chin up"! I met many NZ's and Aussies in Nam, and always a great punch of people. Like to go there someday, but getting too old for for "globe trotting", but still wish ya guys down there the best!

Nah, you're never to old, man.

Sure, the plane flight is a longish one, but travelling here is a doddle compared to the US and Europe. The traffic volumes are low and the country is quite compact. You can go Coat to Coast in three and a half hours.

Yep, 16 hours here west coast. I'm in Puget Sound, WA and on the Olympic Nat park Peninsula side. And here is the same terrain/weather you, but yer summer is our (benign) winter. And little population either our side compared to the "Seattle side", which sucks to me. Had a neighbor and his GF go to the south island vacation. Had a ball! And I mean "that ball", that you nutso's have the big inflatable type that they stuff ya in, and ROLL YA DOWN THE HILL! Ever done that? Insane fun!

But again you "down unders"...(really should say those other side the world, but still same as any on earth as were just the "uppers? )? First time when in Nam on the south China sea in 2 Corp. There was a Aussie band that entertained the troops. 3 guys, one girl singer. Next day with time off I hit the beach to do some "surfing". No good at that as I need a MOTOR with a hot foot and throttle!

But the band was there playing in the water also! Dude..(ok Mate), I saw them and had to thank them for the night before. DAMN, as they are just as crazy fun loving as me!

They were leaving back home soon and like said before. Simple fun loving people OF LIFE, never complained anything. But they were going home, and I had a year left in places they could never go..(think Bob Hope, secure base camps). But they all "hugged me" wish the best, and "go home safe"

But that was my first experience other people, from parts the world knew was there, but never those people's "attitude of life" Simple stuck in my brain for life talking them, and yep., I "came home also".

BUT! They never stopped yakking, laughing, and all had a big nose and never shut up! Yep, thats me..big nose..(need it for air in as I never stop talking either!

Wish ya well Mate..and love the GT150!...just needs a Merc IL6 1500 XS assend! But still Rude is a perfect match. Enjoy it, and LIFE too! Its all we got! USE IT UP HAVING FUN!

I looked hard for a Merc Six, as my father raced them in the 70's and I have a real soft spot for them. I spent months looking but couldn't find a good one, so I gave u and bought the Looper. I was half way through louvring and re-painting the cowl, when at least three showed up! That's the way it rolls I suppose.

Cool! Dig the original looking interior.

Some Glastrons were built under contract 'down under'. Do you know if yours was or not?

Is the gauge pod on the dash stock? American models didn't have that.

Every time I see one'a those it makes me wanna go out'n jump over the sheriff ...
