My buddy here is a twin disc certified re-builder, his main customers are shrimpers, he told me that there is a current ban on imported shrimp . holy ship,,, it's not been in the "News" at all !!!! this is the first I've herd of it !!! they even extended the season by a month to help the industry. anybody else herd of this deal? fun out

Farm raised shrimp is one of the worst food products there is. Buy head on fresh or don't buy them at all.

Fellas down here there is now the tiger shrimp. I had one in the freezer and its there the biggest damn shrimp ive ever seen. I also seen shrimp with no eyes. Looks crazy!!!!

Yes, overseas shrimp farm are feed with live stock feces and antibiotics.

You have to read the label for US or Gulf shrimp.

Import man to hell with imports! I grew up in a fishing community and let me tell you since we havent been having much importing going on, prices have went up. Fisherman are happier and a tradition continues. We have some of the best shrimp on the face of this earth! Just makes me a tad bit mad is all. Im sorry for the rant fellas. STOP IMPORTS PERIOD.

Also check your canned food at the grocery store as there has been a lot labeled with "Made in China". It's cheap for a reason!

Have to agree with Deznuts3570 as I don't pick up any shrimp or oysters unless I know they hand that runs the boat. Used to be a ton of shrimpers around here but those days are long gone I am afraid. The few that still work the boats have certainly had a rough time of it lately and anything I can do to help them out just comes naturally. I wouldn't touch an imported shrimp with my Ex Wife's fork knowing how unsanitary the conditions are where they grow those things.

Thunderbolt Ga is dead for shrimping. They ran 'em out of the Keys too. Farm shrimp have no taste so I only buy fresh Gulf "Pinks". If you know somebody working a boat and can get shrimp hauled on the last day with no preservative thrown on 'em, that's the best.

You can't beat down home gulf shrimp! BOTTOM LINE. Had a buddy that was pushing skimmers for the first good cold front last year. A day later 56 boxes or 5600 pounds with a 35ft skiff! Big beautiful white shrimp. Cant get any better
