Actually, this guy should be coaching the Iraqi, Afghanastani and Syrian soldiers against ISIS"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors". Plato .

I have to say that is poor sportsmanship IMO. Part of the reason to play team sports is to teach sportsmanship and that coach failed at it on this occasion.

In my opinion if the coaches knew the game was such a miss match then the match should not have been allowed to proceed. The fault is with a system which allows two such miss-matched teams to be competing in the same competition. If the game was to proceed then I don't think the coach would be sending his team the right message about sport if he tells them not to score goals or pull shots. As said, the system failed both teams.

You've Got To Be Kidding Me !
I thought the object to any Game/ Sport , is to play at 100% of your ability !
Why should this coach be punished for putting his team on the cort to do what they are capable of ?
Anyone , who feels there was any kind of wrong doing should be looking at the coach of the loosing team !
If he felt his players where being hurt in any way(emotionaly ) he should have stopped the game himself !
Seems to me , He hasn't done his job very well and perhaps he should be replaced with a coach the can get the full potential out of there players !

There are certainly many different ways to look at this but regardless, personally, I do "feel sorry" for the players on the losing team. I feel they should never have been put into the position they were in that game.

Don't keep score and give everybody a participation trophy.

I had to deal with a similar situation in softball. We played a team without a clue and I told my players no matter how far you hit the ball, stop at first base. We one by 30+ runs and had to play a team the following week that had been beaten by the team we routed. I asked the powers that be at that time how to handle such a situation and we were asked to leave the league.
This past year we took a friends kid to play in a tournament while they were out of town. Very bad team in a tournament with some very good teams. First team ran up the score but the next couple teams would have their girls intentionally step off third before the pitch to get them out and keep score reasonable. Once you have beaten the other team down it is time to let up in one way or the other. Gotta remember these are kids.

The best way to learn is to get your butt kicked sometimes.... Kids aren't going to learn by having soft hearts hand them everything, they need to work for it. I do agree this case was excessive, the refs should have stopped the game once it was obvious the game was so lop-sidedLast edited by flabum1017; 01-19-2015 at 10:25 PM.

It's one thing if it's adults and/or professional athletes but we're talking about kids. There's no reason to embarrass another team. The coach ran a full court press until he had a 100 point lead? Dude's a piece of ****. There's a reason why the have mercy rules and running clocks in kids' sports. When you're up by 50 or 60 points against a team which has no chance of making a game out of it, why keep running up the score? Classless.

I agree 100%. The coach showed a lack of class.
Not running up the score and not keeping score aren't even a little bit related. This was a SCHOOL activity not some private league game. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't part of the reason for school sports to teach kids sportsmanship and how to be a good winner. To act like an adult and not some kid who gets his self worth from a game.Last edited by CDave; 01-20-2015 at 08:08 PM.
