First off how about some pics , and is this something you might want to do your self or have done because there is always that chance that you or somebody else will run into gremlins while starting or doing this project which can and could turn into a can of worms with a projected price being higher then anticipated .

This is a very ballpark # but if you have someone do all the work and it doesn't need a lot more than just the transom......around $3k give or take depending on the shop. Most shops charge over $100 per hour labor these days so figure all the time it'll take to split the top/bottom, tear out the old transom, build new one, reassemble, etc. I'd bet 20-30 hours or more.
I think most people who refurbish old boats like yours do most of the work themselves if possible. Otherwise you'll end up financially upside down in a hurry cause you can't sell it for nearly what you have in it. On the otherhand if the boat has sentimental value and you know you're gonna keep it for a while it might make sense to spend the $. Good luck!Last edited by StratosVT; 01-06-2015 at 12:48 PM.

My partner just spent $2800.00 on his verado transom ....just the replacement, the de-rig the re-rig and related labor now will be extra, im pretty sure I will charge him like twice that for labor.
jk.

My local guy wanted $4k to do the floor in my checkmate skimate. I don't the transom would have been much cheaper. If you can't do it yourself then it's almost not worth it unfortunately.
