STV rebuild
Well I said I was not gonna do this ever again but you all know how things go. So a friend has this STV that was being used as a roundy round boat before he acquired it. This thing is ultra light. Had aluminum plates bolted to the sponsons to help turning. My friend was a beginner so he bought the wrong boat but tried to make the best of things. Hung a 2.5 200 on it and had a ball right up until he hooked it and threw himself thru the side of the boat. Decided not to let that happen again and went out and bought a capsule from Seebold and bolted and glassed it in place. Not what I would consider a good idea but it worked for him. We did some trading and I ended up with this little jewel. Split the hull in order to remove the capsule and found several disturbing things. Some of the stringers feel hollow and that can't be a good thing so they will be replaced. Also have to remove a pad that was added to the bottom for more lift (I assume. Either way it is coming off). Will rebuild the dash area and give er a coat of paint. Still have not decided how to build it, race or pleasure, but am leaning toward race due to it's weight. I am not a glass man so I will certainly have many questions about what, how, why, and when. I will read first and ask second. Bring on the itch.

Welcome to the site. Hooked = unexpected 90 degree turn. Most performance hulls can turn really sharp. When that happens and the driver is not expecting it, he often goes a different direction than the boat.

BRB....I do believe it to be the same hull. Not a color you see every day. So this was your boat?
Jeff....We are in town this year. Going to New York to see the grandkids first of February. Hope you and midge have a great Christmas and we will get together soon.

Boat was originally red as seen when I split hull. Don't know about the gray. Tried to weigh it using a formula I found online and it is a bit heavier than I thought (if the formula is accurate). With back seat out it came in at around 530#.
