    Engine weight question

    I am trying to make a comparison in weight between a V4 Johnson 90 to a V- 6 Mercury 2 liter 150 . Both 3 ram trim engines .Pontoon re- power . Thanks in advance for any responses . Merry Christmas !

    You did not state a year. The 90 Johnson's came in two flavors, the older crossflow and the newer loopers. The 90 degree crossflow weights in at around 301 and the 60 degree looper is around 319.

    There were 90 degree and 60 degree looper V4s and the cross flow. My 115 HO is a 60 looper and the heaviest at 375. A 90 carb looper would be between mine and the cross flow.

    Ive seen those *60 90hp motors suck fuel real quick. Way quicker than my 2.0L.

    i vote for the 2.0. if my 3 cyl jonrude ever takes a crap, i'll be looking for an old v 6 for my pontoon.perfect combo!

    If I remember right, the Merc will be about 60 pounds heavier. Took a CF V4 off my 16 Baja and put a 2.5 Merc on it, not very noticeable difference in the squat

    That I can deal with . There is a large open area in the motor well void , I will fab up an air tank so to speak to go in that void to add flotation at rest . Thanks guys , Merry Christmas !
