lil help here..... (3-Liter 250)
hey. a little new to outboards, or modding them at least.
so I've got two 2001 merc 3 liter efi 250s with 300 and 0 hours respectively. I'm doing a few mods over the off season and looking for a little advise to be sure I'm on the right track.
first eagle one alien style cowls, pans, skirts to get them looking right.
second I'm thinking some chris carson reeds to replace stockers.
third I'm thinking some bobs solid motor mounts. boat gets used offshore and takes a beating so i figured.....
and lastly i want to bypass the oil inj. how is this done w/o putting the motor into safety mode?
any sound advise would be appreciated.
oh, one more thing how do i bump the rev limiters up and how high can i go? I've been told these 3.0 have a strong crank and can spin a little higher safely. do i need some aftermarket ecu's like brucaro or similar? will it even be worth it on a stock motor?
current set up
33'powerplay cc with the motors on a 2' bracket. spins 22p b1's to 5300 @ 62 mph running loose with 2 guys, light chop, 1/2 tank (120 gallons)
thanks!!!

Nothing.
Should I move this to the tech section?
Thanks

I will move this to the Technical forum - this post really belongs there.
To begin with, I would seriously consider Brucato SVS for those engines. That would probably be the single most beneficial upgrade you can make, and it will have zero trade-offs. In other words, you will gain in every respect and not compromise reliability. http://www.brucatosvs.com/3litre.html
Also, the Chris Carson reeds are also a spectacular upgrade and are highly recommended. And the Bob's mounts are a must-have too.
As for the other questions, I will have to defer to the three-liter experts here - I'm sure people will reply.

Merc 3.0s are a good motor.
Intake is a great start either the svs or down draft style.
The reeds your on the rite track.
Ecms you can send them to simon motorsports of cdi to have them lifted to either 6800 or 7200.
Oil injection is easy to remove just remove pump and gear drive and blank it up.
Look in to a after market fuel pump and reg maybe.
And get the heads skimmed.
