...interesting! I remember when I was a kid fishing with my Dad he would point out the hull of a PT Boat that had washed up into Hall's Bayou where we fished during hurricane Carla back in '61. Believe it had been used as a Crew Boat back in the day and had broken loose from her moorings over on Pelican Island which is across the channel from Galveston. The hull is long gone but I think the Allison engines may still be in the mud where she used to lay.

The Sutphen family and ELCO Marine in New Jersey were involved in the development of one of the PT hull designs. Here is a link with some interesting background

First, not read up the "Sutphen" link, but well known name and check it later.
Anyway "Fun"? PT links?
DAMN! That PT wood boat has some "SERIOUS FIRE POWER!" Jezz, as I was on a guntruck Nam with (besides our 16's, and M-79 "Nade" launchers) just a M-60 both sides front, and a single 50 Cal on a turret rear and when the "TC" said "DUCK DOWN NOW! Hit the deck!
Simple rolling "pea shooter", compared that!
But I DID NOT know there was THERE WAS THREE V 12's for power as thought 2? Freaking beast! Thanks for the "tour"

I remember back in high school my buddy's dad had a PT boat converted to a fishin head boat, had 3 motors and we were always the first boat to the reef...same kid and myself put together a 8' neal down hydro w/ 10hp merc, seemed real fast back then, my first hydro and been hooked ever since..

And thats the way it happens! My older bro had a 8 foot Hydro with a Merc 20H. Let me drive it at 12, and yep! ...still at it 53 years later! But no more "knell" downs me. To old beat up bones my worn out old azz. BUT? "Never say never" me. As I have a old (from a friend, going bad rotten wood) plans built "8 ft Minimost" that I restored on the front porch. A new side, new deck, and now F/S and water ready not rigged anything. Did last summer C/L, and zero replys asking $300..(I got $200 in it rebuild stuff!) OK me, as I got a short shaft 15 HP 70's 2C Rude that if don't sell summer? New "project". BUT? No kneel down but a mounted "barcolounger", with cable motor twin stick steering..(and a "Hot foot too!) NEVER get to old to think ya can't "amaze" the masses! (and never stop being a "kid" either....)
