Venom --- Set- up and expected speed

New to me a 2004 Venom
15" 280 consumer box and sporty hanging off the back
What props do these boats like ?
Engine height? (I have 6" set back)

    What speeds should I expect.
    Any info is appreciated..
    Cheers

1.25" above the pad is a good height. you can go higher however you loose your ability to turn left safely the higher you go from there. cleavers are the way to go at over 103 Et's are to Flighty at that point.

    a couple points:

    - if your at 100 MPH and your trim isn't bringing the noes up your motor is too low and if you try and over compensate by trimming more you will blow your boat over after it pops and throws on all that trim you laid on.
    - if your Boat Falls on its side at 110 your motor is about .25 too low.

even if its side steer your boat will fly straight once the Motor height is right.

Best speed i had was a 35X15 Merc Cleaver, best all around prop too. i also had a 36 Bravo that worked just as good -1mph top end. the ET was sweet for Smashing the gas at 30MPH but it would only be fun till 103.
