Hi!
I have a verado 350 sci and its considerably stronger than the promax 300 svs i had back in time. Its 6 mph faster despite the gigantic lower unit, much more torque (runs only 1 mph less at wot with 4 people than with one) and 40% less fuel. A promax 300 with brucato svs and tuned efi box was eq to promax 300 x.
cheers Toffen

.
Toffen,
what lowers are you using on your 350SCi ?
please show pics...thanks.
With the specs that I'm seeing on the new Merc motors(Dubai), the 350 SCi is lookin' more and more enticing....and JacosMarine has the 350SCi listed for $21K ea.Last edited by noli; 12-12-2014 at 03:03 PM.

Talked to my Merc Racing dealer buddy today about this new motor and he said that his Merc rep is telling him that Merc Racing will be releasing this motor at the Miami show - said it's 450hp. He also said this guy isn't that reliable and he doesn't put a whole lot of faith in this being truth. But it is interesting that guys on Merc's payroll are actually saying this motor is coming out soon. We talked for quite a while about what we "think" we'll actually see from Merc in the near future, and we both agreed that it certainly won't be a two-year warrantied, 450hp, 7,000rpm, 500#, 15" mid, SM gearcase (that lasts) outboard that will revolutionize performance outboard boats. We don't doubt that there may be parts of this equation that will be accurate, but it won't be a complete package like the 300XS is (sans the 15" mid). And it's anybody's guess as to how much it will cost! I just hope this isn't another huge letdown like the 2004 Miami show was when Merc debuted the Verado instead of the much rumored 400hp turbo 4 stroke that was to be the successor to the mighty 300X.

2 Years ago I had a customer bring in his 35ft Marlago which is a Composite 24 degree Centerconsole offshore style and it had Twin 3.0 Liter 250 Efi Offshores, we literally put the 350 SCis on, changed all to Smarcraft with Vessel View all the options, He had a insane amount into just the controls and gauges, Im not over stating this but the boat ran 55 on GPS before, when we tested we didnt have Props like that were used on the 250s so we put them on, the boat ran 69mph just on the first test, the boat is running with the correct props for the 350s 74-79 now, the 350s are Insanely powerful, just not for Allys and such. On a 26ft Crest Tri Toon Pontoon boat a 350 is 8mph faster than a 300 Pro Verado, and whats weird is we run the same 15p or 16p Enertia Props on either motor....What Ive heard is a 350 Production Verado and 400 Racing, but Mercury isnt even telling their closest boat companys, I just ordered mine blind, but mines a demo so its not a risk

Maybe they offer the same engine for an outboard and a sterndrive?

Trick Powerboats- Do you know (or have an idea) what the cowls are made of? Wondering if they are a composite or not. Thanks Gary

Please keep in mind that these are prototype engines. What you see here isn't necessarily what you'll see on the production version. Nobody likes to hear that "you're gonna have to wait" but you are. These things are "frankenmotors" as is obvious in the large, high resolution photos.
Olboatman, I know what "these" cowls are made of but I don't know what the production cowls will be made of. It's pointless to say what "these" are made of. I simple don't want to be the guy that puts out bad information.Trick Powerboats

Are we saying the 350 hp 4 stroke ( complex heavy forced induction and expensive) went as well as the 250 xs....thats a giant leap forward for a 4 stroke on a race boat then.
