    Hi

If I look at various tests in Norway most of the 24-25 feet boats tested with 250-300 hp range is it E-Tec, Optimax, Yamaha SHO. Etc consumes 1,1-1,2 litre per nautical mile. My boat consumes 0,85-0,95 litre per nautical mile. One nautical mile is 1,852 km. One us / uk mile is 1,609. I gallon is 3,8 litre. My old PM 300 consumed 1,6 litre plus per nautical mile. I have in fact less litre per nm at wot with the 350 sci than cruise with the PM 300.

    Cheers Toffen

I think the point is Yamaha copied themselves...naming the outboard after the Vmax snowmobile that was named after the Vmax motorcycle...which was named for the short form of maximum velocity...Vmax....not Blackmax which was named after a 70's pirate with a flowing beard...

I'd like to see the old 300 that can use double the fuel that the new one does
Maybe the new one can fill the tank as well?

Awesome! I been a motocross racer for near 40 years. Went thru the 4 stroke craze for more than the last 15 years and now went back to the old technology. Even though (twice the displacement 4 strokes) have gotten close to the weight and handling of 2 strokes, 4 strokes cant match the power and explosiveness of an equal displacement two stroke. But... the modern 4 stroke motocross bike is now within 15 pounds of a two stroke with the reliability of a two stroke ( but more cost for rebuild). Why cant Yamaha or maybe Honda get with the program and do the same with outboards? Look at Porsche and Subaru with the boxter car high HP light weight engines.

Look at the etec then whats the reason for a 4 stroke except for the truck that delivers it to you and boaters that are well groomed and do yoga

I just continue to gather v6 Omc 2 stroke stuff and buy Dave Bush kits. 400 horsepower on a lake boat with 350 lbs of torque under 400 lbs all on pump gas. As Forrest Gump would say,"and that's all I have to say about that"
