    The bow is too high

In the rough you want to be level, like this.

    Cool

Over in the UK we race offshore in up to Force 7 occasionally and reguarly in force 4 to 5 - The boat below was built by us in the UK. I am the driver and the photo below was also captured on video and we estimate that we travelled in excess of 35 feet.

The boat is called a BananaShark, is 24' long, and is powered by a merc XR2 - 200HP V6 2.0 litre.

We compete in National European and World Championships against hard boats, and are currently ranked fourth in the World.

I would be confident of taking on any boat I know in rough conditions - with the 150 Litre bow tank filled she goes upwind very well indeed!

Pantera - it's just the design. The tubes actually weigh very little. When it gets a bit out of shape and it lands on the side a bit, they bounce us back straight again though!

Pit Bull - We couldn't do 20! They are one at a time raceboats built to stand up to racing hard in english waters - to give you an idea, we have destroyed 3 lifters on these boats - 1 only lasted about an hour. All of these were sold as ok for much more HP than we are running - and ok for racing!

To answer your question, a bare hull complete with tubes (sponsons) would be about 17,500 english pounds plus shipping. If you wanted to race it or run offshore with it I would recomend a bow tank which we can fit for you. We are only a 2 man outfit running 2 raceboats and doing a plug for a leisure boat - all at the same time! so time can be a little short!

There are only 2 of these boats in existance so far, but we are currently placed 4th in the world Championships, and have won National and European races, so the boat isn't a dog!

Email address is on the (last years and soon to be updated) website: www.bananasharkracing.com

That would be about $28,000 depending on the rate at the time plus shipping. Probably sounds expensive, but there is a lot of work in them and the tubes (sponsons) are $3,200 a pair!
