Thin Film of Marine Grade Grease on gaskets and I've never had a problem. No scraper required to remove them either.

I swapped a 2.5 lt merc PH on a different mid-section (20" to a 25") and had minor water leak at rear of block first time I ran it on the hose. Re-tightened block studs and it stopped. Lake test showed no obvious leak. Should I pull PH back off and change gasket? Fishing motor.

Chad, did you find a new/er powerhead or are you rebuilding ? I thought you might go after that 300 of James Cole, that would be nice too.

I saw that, sure would be nice, but it's just about twice as much as I have to spend.

What's the difference between gasket # 27-823142 and 27-823142-2 ?
What's the "2" on the end of the number?
Is this the correct gasket for a Bridgeport or 260?'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI
