    2.5xs

Has anybody torn down a 2.5XS? Been comparing parts for the 2.5XS and the 200XS. Different part numbers for block, crank, throttle body, air handler, reed plate, etc.
Know the crank is different for the 3.0 splines. Can anybody shed some light on the other parts differences?
Curious about the reed plate as the parts picture shows some kind of extensions on the front of the reed plate. Looks like similar thinking as the S3000 F-1 SVS style intake with the different length extensions on the front.
Is the throttle body different with a larger butterfly? Is the air handler different to facilitate the reed plate with the extensions?

Very interesting! Looks like they are trying to tune the intake pulses but yet has open sides. Is the air handler deeper to handle the extra length of the reed plate?
Does it have a larger bore throttle body?

Air handler is the same and the plate runners fit tight on the sides. I have taken a 135/150/175/200 sport jet and 200xs apart trying to find the differences and best parts. The 2.5xs is very similar to the newer 200xs race including grey injectors and higher air fuel pressures. The newer race only 200xs motors have the higher port timing almost like a 280. The older 200xs were more like a 225 promax. I have taken an older 200xs and had it ported like a newer one. Can't wait to see the difference. Going to use the 2.5xs reed plate also (should help get the low end torque back to compensate for the higher porting).

Interesting that the air handler is tight on the sides of the reed plate extension. No loss in airflow by reducing the intake path area for each cylinder.
Sounds like an interesting build you're doing. What ECM are you planning on using?
Please keep us posted and thanks for the info on the different 2.5 Opti's.

So when you say the genII 200XS is similar porting to the 280 can you be more specific? Is it the same port timing? Same exhaust chest cut?

Cylinder sleeves are just a little lower than 280. Exhaust chest is like a promax not a 280.

Is that a GenI or a GenII 200XS SST?

I was looking for them with LA Sleeve and they didn't have it yet. Will look into Advanced Sleeve.
