A couple different ways to do it. Not really any specs as this is not a precision mod but you do want to keep them all the same. I have "D" ported them but I prefer to cut them square as it has a larger volume. I will include some pics of them BEFORE I had my mill and how I do them on a mill. A 2L and 2.4L are done the same except you would want to modify one of the finger passages as well. I will include a link to a 2.4 that I done. I use to drill the extra hole now I machine a slot in it. It is very time consuming to do by hand but very quick to do on a mill. If you pay for shipping round trip (probably $20 priority) I will cut out the basic shape (either square or 'D" ported) for you at no charge as it will take me 20 minutes to do all 6 and you can hand blend them in or I can send you both the template and program via email and with it you can also make the "D" shape template with the program I will just have to find it as it has been years since I used them. When you have the template on the piston you cut out the square and it will leave a scratch line on the piston and you simply cut out the shape. Hope this helps

Got your PM and responded. I have been there and done that. This takes a little while by hand on only a few minutes by mill. Don't mind to give up a few minutes to help you out.

I have been thankful for TEXAS20225 sending me to James many many times. I have driven down and had the pleasure of talking with him and learning from him in person and there are few people I recall being as pleasant and eager to help as James. As TEXAS said, his work is amazingly accurate and clean...I'd even say flawless.

    +1 for James!!

Would I be wasting my time D porting these stock pistons? Im not looking to turn over 7500 or so. But with the 1.52 ex height im not sure if its going to spool up and hold together or not. Or has anyone got some Standard size pistons for a 2.4 for sale? Im definently not wanting to get it bored. The cyls are in great shape and already over budget on this whole boat.

By squaring the booster port you are giving the engine more of a chance to transfer a fuel charge from under the piston to the top. The problem with piston ported engines is the fuel charge has to fight a moving part on the booster and finger ports. By changing the shape you give more area thus a better chance to move more of the fuel charge. The more fuel charge you transfer to the combustion chamber the more power the engine can make. Not really a RPM mod.

Why are you looking for pistons? New or used and how many? Couldn't tell you how many I have thrown away Threw a few away the other day when I needed the rods they were on. May have a couple used somewhere in storage and you would be welcome to them. Just have to look when I have time.

In your post about my port height you were saying that it would need to turn 8000 rpm to make powernand that the stock pistons might not like that. So im assuming that an aftermarket piston would stay together longer and pins stay in?

Your porting would probably be closer to the 9k range. One of my customers has a 2.5 i ported (close to your height) and he is turning a 26 chopper to 9600 on a regular basis with vertex pistons and had zero issues.
