I wonder if that was comparing a carbon epoxy hull with wood or just a std glass hull?

I built and raced carbon cored formula hulls
what bill stated in the 90s was true at the time,,,,,,
the harmonics to the water means a lot in a formula hull
and the 3-5mm plywood did its job
    but,,,,with todays technology and materials,,,,,
    its not true any more
the early glass boats were straight glass or balsa cored and were too rigid
with new flexable resins and foam coring were able to get them harmonics as wood did in the past
my last hull weighed 314lbs and that's with a 5000 newton capsule
and had to add 75 lbs to it to hit minimum weight
and also was quiet in the capsule
theres good and bad with wood and composite,,,,,,
wood rots and comes loose through time,,,fast repair
composite takes more beating no rot but more costly repair

I quit racing tunnels in 2011
so have not been up much since then on where all the molds went
do know last boat seebold made was normands at their st Louis facility
    before BEBE passed
tim bought back normands boat this summer to have a spare
they did build a couple glass hulls for tim back in 2005,,,,,worthy and nunez got them boats
don't know of any built lately as peter is not an uim registered capsule man.
mabe so but I don't know of it,,,,,
farmer ended up with revolution molds
    jose has the gran prix
as far as the original builders still building boats,,,gary about the only 1 left here in states
the demand has just gone away as not many new drivers stepping in
with lots of used hulls sitting
