ID:	309087Just uncrated a new 2014 motor, pulled the powerhead off & disassembled the mid and found a few things interesting. They actually listened to me about an issue I was having on past motors! The lower motor mount cap bolts had a tendency to pop the heads off. Happened to me several times so I sent a few letters, they are now using ARP fasteners for these. Also noticed a considerable difference in the type of other hardware used through out the mid-section.

So between some hardware, locked ECU's, and a few other bits, these things may just stick around for a few more years. Lets hope so

Are you charging them for all of your R&D hours Adam? Locked ECUs on the '14s? Glad I don't have those!

    David,
You should ask your Mercury guy. I believe they just came out not long ago and your motors do not have them. They should supply them at no charge. You will need 8ea.
Couple of guys down here with Cats have broke them. Cause the motor to move around and do a fair amount of damage.

Maybe in a perfect world . But if they started to wty parts that aren't broken , they would have to go back to the 95 / 225 carb motor and replace all of em ..

It was pointed out to me about a year ago by Scott Porta' that the movement between the steering pin and lower yoke was the culprit in many mid section handling / endurance issues.
This Merc single ram to OMC conversion ( Adam supplied the ram ) has had the "Slop Stop" added . A little preload goes a long way in slowing down the three litre dance ....
