The bottom was pretty straight when I bought it. With the paint work we got it even more straight. It had a bit of a hook on the port side to counteract torque, I took part of it out. The hook is far enough away from the center that at high speed it is not in the water anyway so I doubt it made a difference.

I noticed you are using the 4 in Bobs JP. My boat came with a stainless marine 12 in setback with a 4 in JP as well. I have often wondered why so much setback. Any thoughts on which is perfection on this hull?
    thanks

My hull has a 10 inch pocket plus 4 inches of jack plate = 14 inches total setback which is more than enough to hold the bow up. Unless you have a ton of weight in the bow I would think your 12 inch setback is unnecessary.

For general fishing purposes you should be able to run shallower with the increased setback I would think .

Curious about the rpm, pitch, and speed. When I plug those numbers into the calculator, I get 98mph with 0 slip. What gear ratio are you running. I used 1:86. You must be running 1.63 gears. Really haulin' the mail!

My pocket is the same on my L&B. I do have a TM and 3 batteries up front when fishing. However, the SM JP is very heavy and I would welcome a reduction of weight on the transom when fishing. It does look very cool but not sure how it's beneficial. I have been thinking about eliminating the SM setback. I believe I would be very happy just bolting up the hydraulic JP up to the transom as you did even with the batteries and TM.
    Thanks for your post!

Update: Added a DBR Stage 1 ECU, velocity stack and engine cover. I kept the stock flywheel to preserve idling qualities, after all it is a fishing boat Hit 103 MPH I think there is still more room for improvement in the prop.

The only video I have is from back when I had a 250 on it. Worse yet we didn't know it was running on 5 cylinders so the boat would only do in the 80's. When we put the engine on the boat it had only 15 hours, idled well, no alarms on the SmartCraft and it hit 86 mph. Who knew it had a bad coil and no spark on one cylinder. Once I replaced the coil the boat hit 96 mph with the 250. Here is a video running in the 80's on 5 cylinders. My friend Nick is driving and I am filming it with my phone from his boat
