I may even be interested in this, assuming that the minimum weight is not too low. Or that there is a minimum weight.

As Da Bull said we had a hard time getting three boats to show when we had such a class before , just get a stock 260 and run Super Stock 1400 lb and the motor will last forever!
ODBA has no problem with starting a new class , the problem is getting people to show up at a race.
Shane ODBA's President hurt six motors this year running 800 ft. My 260 is four years old , keep it simple.Last edited by CUDA; 10-21-2014 at 05:01 PM.

Not everyone want's to run a Mercury. Some of us are hardheaded and want to race against them. That's is one of the problems with boat racing today there is not enough CLOSE competition among brands. It's like if Nascar just ran Fords probably wouldn't many people show up to watch.
This v-4 class might have a chance but if its set up as a Pro-Drag class just for v-4 motors it want be cheap just about every modification will be custom a lot of one off stuff defiantly not an entry level class. They are already talking about carbon boats.
Carbon boat plus a Dave Bush or Monty fuel injected big bore v-4 on a chrome molly tube mid would be interesting though.

I got a rig I could run lake racer with but according to ODBA rules with my boat and motor combination I would have to weigh 1915 lbs I would have to add 500 lbs to my boat do you realize that would be like putting a 55 gallon drum of gas in for weight. I don't think so.

Yamaha guys mike like it. They could swap a V6 and V4 powerhead back and forth.

I wish there were more Yamaha's out there racing but they are in the same boat as the OMC's hardly (0) high performance parts out there everything custom built and the guys with the knowledge to make them competitive are gone or not racing any more.
It would be great to go to a race and see all three brands running together and being competitive against one another . I think you would see more competitors and more spectators but I don't think it will happen.

Maybe a few rules.....make it a 3cyl and 4cyl class. Any combo of oem parts, any porting allowed. Weights based on displacement?? Min length based on displacement? Limiting to OEM heads, carbs, and electronics may keep the costs down.....any mid, any shiftable lower, etc... race in 600'????
I've never raced and probably never will, but it would be interesting to read more posts about a 3cyl/4cl drag class.Mike Dowling

IO like the way the guys up in Michigan do it, 3 friggin classes. period. all this "chrome nuts vs. non chrome nuts" is what drags it down to a "pissing match". stick to "V4's and V6's" of similar cubes, maby even sticking to stock parts ??? everybody knows you can turn a turd into a diamond if you have enough money. fun out
most overnite successes usually take at least 10 years
