heli-coils. They have one just for spark plugs. Picked it up at the auto parts store . Very simple to do.

Ya Might want to look into Time Sert thread inserts also.
Time serts get aways from the coil wire of the heli coils

I think I'm almost there.
So, if this is the stock plug for the head: http://www.easternmarine.com/champio...o-ground-ul77v
Is this the appropriate fix size?: http://www.easternmarine.com/champio...o-ground-ul77v
Spark plug is 12.7mm and time sert is 13.5. I cannot seem to locate a 12.7 time sert and am not sure what the 1.25 references

Spark plug is 14mm, lenght or reach is 1/2 inch or 12.7mm . The 1.25 is the thread pitch like fine thread course thread.
Just get a heli-coil spark plug kit, they work fine, have done tons of them, they hold up fine. Only 20 lb torque
