Fyi mercury owners
I was just noticed by Mother Mercury that as of Monday October 20, 2104 dealers will no longer be able to drop ship to their customers. They cite dealer abuse which is probably from these mail order companies. Sorry but you will still receive a great discount from us here at Fullers Marine.

I heard about this as well. Theres a certain one (dont think I can mention by name as they dont advertise here) that sells Mercury Racing props at the best prices I have seen and drop ships. Will be interesting to see how this effects their prices.

Wow this sucks that's how I order and get all my parts now I guess I have to drive to the dealer and pick them up

Sure does suck. I buy all my parts via net or calls. There goes that great convenience, rarely do I drive to a dealer around here.
I think it is because of all the online like ebay dealers. Personally I think this will ultimately hurt dealers that sell/help out of town clients.
Does Fuller deliver parts/items like the auto parts stores...

Mercury is all about Mercury these days. I wonder if they would consider selling all of the 2.5 high perf tooling and casting molds they don't want to use anymore to someone who cares?

Seems like no one commenting on this thread knows what DROP SHIP means...
Any dealer will still be able to ship parts, but if they don't have them in stock, they can't order the part from merc and have them delivered directly to the customer. In the long run this is good for everyone, except for the internet only dealers who were taking advantage of the system, that is...> Stainless steel Merc cowling plates - $110 shipped TYD - LINK <

Jim, yes, but with the cost of doing business today and having many shops/brick & mortar business that are just making ends meet in this economy it makes it extremely hard for dealers/shops to stock or over stock parts. Keeping in mind some of these are quite expensive to boot.
Also while the drop shipping was for free they will now need to absorb the fee or pass it on to the client adding more $ to that part/item.
I do agree these net vendor will feel the biggest pinch but from my end I will say it made the drop shipping from the same shops/friends that I have been using for years and all the time made life very easy in my case. OH well maybe we can work around that some how.

Support your local dealers guys. If we don't, they will go away. I have worked at a good merc dealership, the amount of parts that they kept in stock was crazy. When people know you most likely have the part in stock, they become regular customers and are more than likely gonna stick with you with all their purchases. Big and small....I have a local dealer that I get my stuff from, same price as the internet for the most part. When I need a part, I need it today.

The next step from internet only dealers is merc selling direct.
They are looking to support bricks and mortar dealers who support them.

I just wish we had a decent dealer near me. 40 to 50 miles possibly in JAX or 100 miles in Ocala.

If it was only that easy, it would be great!!
I'm all for local support but when it becomes a drive/trip, they do not want to give you a break like the outer state dealers/shops do and to make matters worse no longer carry a good selection of 2.5 HP parts because they prefer to cater to the newer 3.0L fishing motor guys (can not blame them because we are a dieing breed) it becomes extremely difficult.

Not many mom pop dealers can afford to keep power heads, cranks etc on their shelves. That's were the drop ship comes in. Pass a big saving to your customer with shipping, tax and a deeply discounted price and a little in our pocket too for minimal work. No where near our bread and butter from every day work and sales but does benefit both.

Sure was a nice convenience for those of us who live out in the sticks 50+ miles from the nearest Mercury dealer. Now, we'll have to start paying for gas to make the trip, as well as tax that we haven't had to pay in the past.
