Under-equipped helmets can be more harmful in a crash than none at all. Yes, that's a different discussion.
If you're not concerned with protection, then you might as well focus on comfort. The neoprene jackets at Wal-Mart are very comfortable, and they won't break the bank, God forbid.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

I said YOLO and die broke called lifeline and bought two jackets one for me and one for my wife went all out and got their canvas bag for them too when they had their sale for SNF $ 940.00 havent thought about it again also wouldn't mind a helmet if for anything an intercom to talk while riding
dont let a few bucks stop you from getting the best you can and hope you never need it
also I think my lifelines are fairly comfy

Pay attention Pyro, key word here > (Recreational High Speed Life Jackets) Hello ? NOT RACE JACKETS !!!! > Recreational High Speed Life Jackets<
He asked the same question on Facebook, I responded Lifeline then !!!! Yes Bass Pro Shops jackets are not Race Jackets !! We all know that !!!

We all know the importance of a lifeline and all its safety features for race or pleasure in high speed boats but I as well as many others here watched Joe Ward blow over at close to 100 mph about 7-8 years ago at the St Johns river run at sanford florida. He was wearing a Stearns like the one in the link I posted wich pyro seems to think is no good and have no track record for saving lives. I will never forget that day. I watched my other friend Scott who was the first to get to joe in the water pull Joe unconscious into his Euro by his stearns/leg strap affordable life jacket seconds after that crash. While Joe was seriously injured that unproven crappy jacket did in fact save his life that day. When I raced I always had a lifeline but something is better than nothing just make sure it has leg straps. Even water skiers die each year from drowning in violent falls where the jacket slid of their body.

It is true something can be better than nothing as long as it holds up for me I didnt want to leave it to chance so I went with what was proven yes it was expensive but by chance I ever use it for what it is for I feel better knowing I did all I could first for safety my wife rides with me almost every time the boats in the water and I would never be able to forgive myself if something happens to her especially if it came down to an inferior life jacket just my $.02
actually glad to see an argument about wearing the things myself and as for my decision on buying a lifeline after talking to motorhead about how his worked when he needed it I had no doubts and called them up it wasnt just for the flotation factor for me the impact was important also

I have a life line and a mustang. Most of the time when I'm riding
around my local area I would wear the Mustang because it is coast guard approved as the lifeline is not.

If you go over and then thru the side of the boat, you wake up on shore and you're just alil bruised up
And somewhat dilerious... And god knows if it wasn't for the lifeline you had on the fiberglass would have
Cut your azz to the bone, then as that boat came back around it knocks your azz out and puts you underwater...
Lifeline saved me without a dought... And I am grateful for there quality...
If we all were put into a position such as: we could predict the future and we knew that we were gonna blow over
On a certain date.. and we had the option to pick our jacket, would that be the same jacket on any other day?Last edited by motorheadbishop; 10-18-2014 at 07:23 AM.

Glad you were alright Mike and by the way congrats on the win at Jasper buddy. River Racer was my class also the last couple drag boats I had. Race your boat one weekend and play on the river the next. Hell I didnt even change the fuel 28 gallon tank to go race or run the river, only the prop Awesome class.

Mike makes a very good point. You never know which day you're gonna blow over. There is no reset button after an accident. You need high quality safety equipment and support people to drag your ass out of the water,(thank you Gordon Montague and Andy Driver). In my opinion if you can't afford a Lifeline-you shouldn't be out there cause it will happen when you least expect it.All it takes is a broken prop,a gust of wind,or a little too much trim.HOW MUCH IS YOUR LIFE WORTH???? ..................greg
