The rods are the weak link. 141's won't make an f1 race, chatfields will make a few. 141's break parallel to the rod bolt (which is why people think the bolt failed, it was the rod) and chatfields fail almost exactly 1" below the wrist pin.
For the most part it is the rev limiter that breaks the rods. Or you can just go buy some auto Verdi rods which last I heard have yet to have a failure.

We had one where the timing linkage broke allowing it to go full advance which added 12* at 8600 and it stuck broke a big omc rod. The small 5/16 rod bolts held strong

Now, you know those fuel tank screws are factory.

the wiring isn't as clean as Greg's dash, I know.

On a positive note, I found a Medalliin trim gauge with red markings to match the factory set. It will replace the Land & Sea jackplate indicator. I need to score a good manual 5" plate, or 4" with my 1" spacers.

Rob, ypu don't need to change bolts. The sps and arp bolts don't break. Don't waste ypur money or other peoples. Spend money on things like magna fluxing. Ask Brendan power if he has EVER seen a rod bolt failure. Is he good enough?

Rob, what do you recommend for high-pressure fuel hose? I thought Aeroquip was the cat's meow.

Sometimes peace of mind is worth some extra bucks, if it lasts 2-3 times longer.....

So thats not their version of "push lock" hose? Thought they had one?

Forget that... I'll spend $50 every couple of years on the blue stuff, and I'll pour a three-finger Lagavulin 16 when the job is done.

I use ethanol-free 90, if that counts for anything...
