    Bridgeport locator pin carnage :(

It ran fine the last time I used it... Started it up at the ramp yesterday, and immediately heard a rhythmic knock. I shut it down quickly and paddled it back onto the trailer, but it was too late. I took the heads off and this is what I found. I picked the locator pin out of the piston top with my bare fingers.

I can't afford to fix or replace this right now, so I will be parting out this motor and selling the bare hull. With a second child coming over the winter, I'm going to be going boatless for a while if I can get everything sold. Maybe a bow rider for the growing family is in my distant future, unless someone has a cheap, good-running bass motor I can swap out in the meantime.

Ouch! Sorry to see that Chad. The Bridgeport owner's worst nightmare. You have a lot of hours on that BP too, right?
But, selling the Vegas? Do you really need to do that? Your boat is sort of like a legend here.

Ok, ok, I will take down the ad. Billy and Lynn are both helping me look for a good powerhead trade-up deal. I would like to get it running again soon, and this would be the easiest way to re-power with minimal wrenching time.

I'd really like to find a low-hour or fresh 225 ProMax powerhead with top-pin pistons. I would gain the 40 amp charge system, keep the EFI, lose the noisy Weldon pump, and gain some long-term reliability.

Chad, I am very happy to read this. You've been with S&F since the beginning and I couldn't imagine you without your mint-condition Vegas. It would be like trying to imagine me using my boat!
If I can help in any way, you know I'm always here!

Just fix it , you can have the powerhead off and completely apart in an hour . Most 2.5 blowups look like there was a grenade in the block , this is mild !! rebuild it , that's your cheapest route .

Call me crazy... I don't want to run a nik motor with a steel hole. It's going to cost as much to sleeve and update the pistons as it might cost to do a powerhead swap, especially if I part out.

Great choice of new power for that clean Vegas!!
BTW, If you find one with the Vertex pistons do not be too concerned, they have been good for keeping the locator pins.
Like DB said, it will be very interesting so see the performance comparison!
    GL either way.....
