What year is that and who made it? I was always curious about the "playpen" design in front compared to the traditional lounge seats. How do you like the front layout?

Very nice Hydrostream! I know this probably isn't too safe, but I always wanted to ride in the bow of those boats while going 80 mph.

Thanks guys, love the playpen. It's a 04 hydro stream voyager! My wife and daughter sit up there all the time. The playpen flips up and there is a ton of storage under it. I do t know if I'd want to be up there at 80, by my wife and daughter feel very safe up there at 50

2005 Hydrostream Voyager in South Carolina
Wow I am a long ways from Winnipeg. I love mine!!!! Kids love riding in the front. Wife puts earplugs in so I don't blow her ear drums with the 280. What I love best about the boat is that I have room for passengers and can still harrass my Allison friends on any given Sunday. Boat is very easy to drive and very forgiving if you make a mistake. My best all-around prop is a Merc ET-26. I can run mid 70's all day long with passengers in the back. on "race days" mid 80's. Personal best 93. Tell me more about your setup. Cheers!
Dave

I'm just running a 200 currently, but want to get a 250 or 300 opti for it. the best thing i did was raised my front seats by 8 inches so you look over the windshield. i have a tempest II 26 and it pushes the boat full of people and gas to just over 70. not going to start getting props until after i get the new motor. the current motor loves gas. what is for range with the 280? you have a 30 gallon tank too?

It's a shame Chub won't make that model, they are very nice boats.

Yes you're right. Chub did mention this to me over the phone a few years ago. As I understood it, it may be due to the potential for people to move from bow to stern while under power. Gosh I hope not but their is always that chance. Range on fuel? The 280 really loves to drink the fuel and oil. (premium ethanol free and full synthetic) Off course the sound and mid-range of this engine makes you push the Hot foot down even further. Only dislikes with the 280 is for pulling a tube or skiing. I can't seem to find a propellor for this application for this engine. I have tried every prop I could get my hands on and believe it or not the ET and chopper are the best?? Working on the setup and hope to find out from other owners what brand ski-pylon and how to properly mount it. Hydrostream has not been able to answer this question over the phone? Although I have seen a few factory installed ones on this site in the past......
ps. If I had the money to spend then, I would go with the 300 Opti....
Cheers!
Dave

I really like the Voyagers. Probably would've bought one of those if I didn't come across the Triad. It's a good looking boat.
I have a ski pole that mounts in the splash well like a tripod on my old boat but the newer one has a 2" thick solid aluminum pole that goes down through the deck and bolts into a plate that's mounted on the floor of the boat. That setup is much cleaner and nicer and can be removed with one bolt.
This looks like the ski pole setup I have in the Triad.

No. The hole is between the rigging hoses for the motor so it's not in the way. Never bothered looking for a cap.

Thanks guys! Looks like a winter project for me. So all I need is a hole saw for the deck; billet ring to clean up the hole and some floor mounting hardware? No other support required? Seems like a lot of stress on the billet ring area alone. In the short term I plan on purchasing an Allison foil to take care of the slow speed porposing for tubing and quicker launches to hang with the Allisons. Then right back to the pylon. Good job on the raised your seat.
ps. Triad are pretty cool boats. I don't see too many of them around here anymore. Dave

If there's not any wood under the fiberglass where your wanting to drill the hole then I'd add some for strength. There's a good bit of strain on that area while pulling a skier.
