Needs Big Wabbit at wheel,
little wabbit hanging on to nose for dear life
and
another little wabbit hanging onto top of the cowling flapping in the wind.
Maybe a couple of trim tab wabbits as well while pulling a wake boarding wabbit.
Wabbit that sucker up.Blind, Crippled & 1/2 Crazy

glad i've read most of this thread.
i'm on my 2nd allison.
1st was a ss2000 with 260. had 8" setback running in lake racer class. at 3/8's above pad.. never had a problem with it.. but it leaned hard to the right. it was a bit spooky.
now i'm in a drag boat with 14" total setback at 1.5" above pad. had it sit hard going thru finish line at a hunerd.. got lucky and got it straightened back out. i had let off the throttle too fast instead of easing it down like i normally do. i was lucky it didn't go into a full hook. got my attention.
one thing i've learned is , the higher you run ... the more the skeg needs the torque tab rolled over. i fixed mine and so far it's sitting down great.
i've seen alot of A boats hook drag racing. and in nearly every case.. the driver let off too quick or there was a skeg issue.
never knew that about the non ratcheting case.. that's great info.. course all i run is 200 cases on 2.5's so doubt i'll ever have that issue.
very glad your okay man. i know how scarey a hook can be.
peace to all.98 XR2001 Drag w/pro stock mota

It's about 900 in parts and 250 in labor to make the switch, plus you could sell your old parts and recoup.
erm the bunny pic was for you off topicers, not the OP.
