    Patching large rigging tube hole.

This is something I have wanted to do and Ihad to take my back seat out today so I started on the patch. I glassed in a small piece of honeycomb composite to the underside and built up the glass then faired with P77. Looks great but I have one question before a spray the gel.
In the past when I have done this, awhile later I get a little shrinkage and an outline of the repair that has to be re-sanded and buffed. I assumed its the filler shrinking a bit over time. Should I wait a couple weeks before gel coating?

PC 7 may not be a good filler to use under gell since gell is poly and has a very hi solvent content, and pc-7 is epoxy. Spray it and let sit. If it raises the filler edges, it may be solvent attacking the epoxy. I always used paint to finish epoxy surfaces.

P-77 polyester filler and fairing compound offers the user a smooth workable paste with a set-fast cure to expedite those applications for repair or finish.
    its not worth the money.

Its P77 polyester filler by Adtech, not PC7 epoxy.

Sorry for the mix up on products. I have had very poor results with the adtech p-77 myself. Every place I used it on a boat, bubbled up under the paint later and had to be repaired. Will never use it again......

Ive used it a lot without ever having an issue. The entire inside of my boat was faired with it when I pulled out the carpet and gel coated. The only thing I has was a little shrinkage when I used it to fill some holes.

No bad but open your repir area up just a touch more . For better feathering I all ways use a few layers of glass and found out it helps with the cold cock syndrome

Its hard to tell but its built up underneath. Coring with two layers of glass then cut circle of glass to fill in the hole then overlapped on top. I beat on it pretty good making sure it as strong enough because thats right where I get on and off the boat in the water. I actually put me knee in the middle of it and bounced up and down.
Between the glass and the coring I used under it its probably 3/4" thick. There are two layers overlapping on top.
