Your Viper? I started off with an inline 115 on mine, if I had to do it over, i'd go straight to a V6. The power will get you through the hop way quicker and obviously way more speed.

Mine ran 62 with a wet hull and a 115 V4, 84 with a 2.0 150, and with the 2.5, I don't know, never kept my foot in it long enough to find out when it was done. A Viper with a 150 is alot of fun but will still bite ya if youre not paying attention. I think Ron Flood has one with an 85 or 90hp on it but can't remember how it ran. Maybe he'll pop in here and report.

That a very good speed for an inline if it doesn't have a coned gcase. 72 was all my newer 115 would do in good air.

I'm building 2 16" Eagle V6's now, one for my Viper and one for another guy. Reliable, tame oil injected V6 power right on the transom so no porpoise. I can add one to the stack if you're interested.
