    25 Motion/Johnson help

On A 25 motion/Lightning with Johnson 200's work ok? This is a starter low buck project. I know it will be hard to get out of the hop zone and won't be 100 plus MPH. But they are on the boat already.

Can these motors run close to the merc 200's?

What prop size to start with?

Best lower water pick up or plug top 2 holes?

    What speed with it see?

    Thanks!

depends on height of motors ,condition of power heads ,water pressure you may not get over hop zone
a lot of variables ,you need power to go thru hop quickly otherwise you wont want to go there ,what is your top rpm
as of right now ,prop size/pitch , I,m guessing 75/80 ish with those motors , merc 200's might be little faster but your in the hop zone

You can run a tunnel tab or put a little hook (with bondo) at the very back of the running surface just outside the strake. If it plants the nose to hard, you just sand a little bit off until you find what works for you. I had a 24 skater with 200s and had a lot of fun in that boat. 85 sure felt fast in the chop back then. You are going to want low water pick ups or remote pick ups and get the cases as high as you can while maintaining water pressure and steering.

    Good luck with it,

    Joe

Thanks for the info guys. Seams like I can stay with the Johnsons till I can re power with more HP. Then go with merc ' s. Thinking I should start with a 28 cleaver. ( unless u guys think I can turn a 30 ) at 1 1/2 inches above the bottom. And of course figure out the low water pick up.

So far this is were I'm at. Boat had 2 right hand motors. I installed a left hand lower spinning the props out. I had a set of 24p choppers so I just just them to get on the water. I saw 69 gps before right motor hit the buzzer. Wonder at this point we're I'd be at with 30 3 blade cleavers.

Mtrs deff need low water pickups I have plenty of v6 lowers if u need them left n rights with bobs
higher u go the faster u will go but the harder on the omc drives u will b
I ran 86 with 29 srx I think 26 bravos may even work for u
the boats not a skater so it's heavier for sure so I think u will b in the 80-83 mph range once setup

How much u need for the lowers Action?

Do u think the hull is slower then a Motion? There is a nice Motion on here doing upper 90 ' s with 200 Mercs.

    I would be happy with high 80 ' s.

Russ you will need the LWP for sure, mine hops if you do a straight line from 52mph to around 78ishmph. just play with it turning a little bit to get her through the hop zone quicker. See in this video how I open it up right in the middle of the turn, no hop at all.

My motors are at 1 7/8 above and toed neutral. Don't go to high on them without LWP, you could blow a motor and that would be a bad set back, be patient it takes time and lots of $$$,$$$.
Mine is not where I want yet, maybe one more year, I hope.

    Be safe brotha!!

Does getting yours where you want it involve new power or staying with the 200's. I'm just curious what you think of the 200's after having some time on it.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
You know, before that run I did a couple of weeks a go, I was headed to go for either 250xs's or 300xs's, but I will give these 200xs's a chance and try some other set ups and props, I'm not looking for a super hot rod (115mph), I'm totally fine with 100.999mph, and the way they ran last time I think I can get her there with these under estimated Gen 1 200xs Optis. I think a set of Gen 2's would be awesome but no warranty is a deal breaker.
