Lots of us use Holley Reds with great success. Plug the hose coming out from the bottom of the block and connect the hose directly to the current hosing. Works great.

Premixing is fine!

SOME fuel hose is not designed for 2 stroke oil. Get the kind that is oil resistant. Or it will get soft and gummy.

No, no mixing in the pump, its all premix. The best way to save your engine(s) if you don't care about a little smoke at low speeds.

Ratman--
OK, we have some confusion here--
1. Many say the the OMC VRO on the old 300s is unreliable. So premixing is good.
2. The VRO mechanism and the pulse driven fuel pump(s) are the same assembly. I suppose that the pumps could pump but not mix, but most who take off the VRO just take off the whole mechanism and use electric fuel pumps. Gotta say, though, that I have gone through way too many Holley Reds, and you need to reset your floats to handle the pressure at which they pump which is 5 to 7 where your carbs like 4 to 5. My son has urged me to find a stock fuel pump and go back to that, but still premix. I have just switched, at a friend's recommendation, to an Aeromarine or Aerotech (don't recall offhand) pump, but motor is down for other reasons so I haven't really tried it yet.
and PS: if you are a saltwater boater (and with that size boat I assume you are) and you can't get ss hardware, you should not be boating.Last edited by Li'l Toy; 09-01-2014 at 12:22 AM.

From other thread:
Hey, I just responded to your complaining about how it is hard to get ss after I explained to you how to pin your lower units with 1/4-20 ss flathead machine screws in the other thread. If you can get what you need, why the whine?Last edited by Li'l Toy; 09-01-2014 at 05:34 PM.

I'll tell you a problem, you are pumping gas into the tank and fill it up to much to get enough oil in there to premix properly.
Been there, done that. More than once.
