SOB Peconic Bay splash 09/14/14

Getting a few boats together for a fun run around the Great Peconic Bay, Shelter Island, Sag Harbor....maybe farther depends on the weather.


Roll call is open !

If you want a fun time....

Meet Jamesport ramp between 7:30 and 8 am.

Run will be to head South to Shinnecock canal then east along north side of south fork to South side of shelter Island toward Sag Harbor. Gather up In Sag Harbor bay and on again east to Montauk via following the north side of the South fork of Long Island (weather permitting). Gas with be available there. Return same way then head to Northern side of Shelter Island (Sunset Beach) and Greenport. Pit Stop for gas and more is an option if desire. Northern bay of Shelter Island has High test 93 gas available at town gas dock.

Return: heading west from Shelter Island back to Jamesport.

GOING HOME: We leave north side then turn left and head South along the west side of shelter Island, then turn west again to Robin's Island. Staying off the south side of Robin's then north back to James Port ramps !

Last year weather was not so great, however the 2 years prior weather was perfect.

I will add updates as we get closer.....

This year all boats must be together... and I mean in the water outside of Jamesport prior to anyone taking off Please.

Directions:

Take the Long Island Expressway to very last exit heading east which then becomes route 25 going east.
Follow around the Riverhead circle and continue East.
Turn Right at the light right after 'Cliff's Elbow Room' restaurant onto - route 22 (so. Jamesport road.)
Turn left at stop sign onto Peconic Bay Boulevard...ramp and parking is 1/4 mile down on the right !

I would love to say you'll be fine.... but the true is unless it's a perfectly calm day you will for sure get banged up with 1'-2' ers.

N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt...becoming NW 5 to 10 kt this afternoon. Waves 1 to 2 ft this morning...then 1 ft or less.

W winds around 5 kt...becoming N after midnight. Waves 1 ft or less.

it turned out to be a great day! i did almost loose my cowl... no video,s... ..

Awesome day for this run ! Winds and chop died down into by late morning for a great run out and around Shelter Island and back. I logged 89 miles, boat speeds were up to at approx. 90 mph so seas were on the calmer side for sure, all boats ran great, and all equipment held out.

Videos and pic should be entertaining.....I will work on what I have and post later.
