There are plenty of posts on other boating sites about us that read very similar. I remember reading on here how a group of S&F members buzzed some guys wade fishing the flats (in a no wake zone) for bonefish on our Keys run and lots of people thought it was funny.

Ya there are bad apples in every group, just seems to be more that drive wake boats, around here anyway. Had way to many bad runs that left me with a real bad taste in my mouth.
On the up side they do keep me employed, 50% of what we work on be wake boats.

While breaking in my new engine, I decided to hit the KY River close by and just make passes up and down the 15 mile stretch. I was the only 'fast' boat out there. (Not saying my boat is super bad or anything, just saying all the other boats were real big inboard with lots of young people drinking and having 'fun' towing skiers and tubes. Towards the end of the day I decided to make one last pass from the ramp to the lock and back, thinking I had enough gas for one more trip. I made it 8.8 miles up river and ran out of gas. Gauges read almost 1/4 tank but I had never tested to see where it ran out. Luckily I had put my trolling motor on the bow for ballast to help keep the nose down, unluckily my trolling battery didn't like sitting over winter and laid down on me about 3 miles into the trip home.
Probably twenty boaters passed me and waved while I tried to get a tow back to the dock. Not one offered or even slowed down. About 1 mile from the dock a guy on a jet ski of all things offered to tow me in. I declined but thanked him, I figured hell I been at it this long why not go all the way.

When we wanted obscenely big air, we motioned to the driver, circling with a finger. (WAY back in the day, this meant, "take me home.") We used this signal to ask the driver to give us the "double-up." The driver would make a big turn and cross the old boat wake at 90 degrees. The rider would cut out and watch where the sets of wakes converge, choosing the second or third intersecting wave, resulting in a mind-blowing double-wake ramp that would produce huge air, testing the limits of our knee ligaments on the landing.

There are asshats in every form of boating, ours included.

One thing that bothers me about towing is the guys who complain about it (or constantly break down) but dont have a towing policy like Seatow or Towboat US.
I know the service isnt available everywhere but it is pretty well spread coverage. They will even bring you gas. Spend the $125 a year and stop ruining others day on the water. I would rather wait a couple hours for a tow then ruin my buddies boating trip because I broke down.

That boat was on lake lavon. He had a few people in the front and all the fat sacks full of water. There was a freak storm that came in with 60 mph winds. He took some big rollers over the front. It sank a few other really nice jet boats.
it was a bad day for sure.

Bummer. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

During the 24 years I've boated in this part of Florida I've been towed exactly twice. And not for very far. Lost count of how many people I've towed. And I don't even have any cleats on my boat ...? I don't mind, got nuthin better to do anyway. I figger what goes around comes around. Call it Karma if you will.

I want to agree, I really do... But I've been swamped and had my fishing ****ed up by about 5 too many of these douchecanoes. The phantom wake they leave behind for miles across a lake will also hurt or kill a guy in a fast boat, no different than any other barge, really. Except the barge doesn't stay in one area creating those ignorant wakes all day.
Last weekend the asshat douchebag at the Fanning Springs ramp going back and forth with the Wakeboard boat while people were launching and trying to hold on to their boats with the 3 footers rocking everything . screw 'em . Flare pistol seems appropriate to me .

I don't know where you guys are all getting this "50 grand" figure from. You're way behind times on your current events. You can't even buy a bare bones slalom boat from any of the big four for that price anymore. More like 100K for one of these single purpose boats. And the local dealer tells me that when they shoot a price to the people they don't even dicker. Can't get out their checkbooks fast enough. Just like the Harley crowd. Trying to make a statement with something that's overpriced, obnoxious, and a nuisance to everyone.

Sounds like the owner could have afforded, and should have purchased a Chapman's
