I will post finished pictures of the boats when they are complete. Check out the website www.talon22.com (out dated, but working on it) or call me at 937-292-7355 with questions. Thanks Todd

I know a lot of you are wondering what happened to the original New Talon Build Thread and photos. I took it down after a very highly respected builder said "What are you doing dummy? Take the construction pictures down and quit being so open. Show the finish or close to finish products only. If they are serious, they will come check out your facility and boats. Stop showing your competition what you are doing" So, I took it down, because this man has earned mine and many others respect.
So here are a few shots without all the goods of where we put everything and how we did it. Bottom finally getting set on it's new dolly trailer so we can put the deck on.

This is totally my opinion as a consumer. I totally disagree with your industry friend. First off, transparency in the build shows potential buyers exactly how your boats are made. That's a positive if you have a quality product. Secondly, your lamination schedule is similar to high performance industry standards and not ground breaking technology that needs to be kept secret. If a so called serious buyer has to travel to Ohio to learn the details of the build, what if you don't have boats in production in the various stages? Third, what competition? Skater hasn't built a 21 since the 80's. Eliminator and DCB could care less about the 22 since the back bone of their businesses now revolves around 26 foot plus boats. Lastly, I'm assuming the company has a limited promotion budget and what better way to show off your boats and excite the prospective customer base, than with detailed pics of the builds? John Coen of Superboats, who I'll bet, built more boats then your industry friend, has an outdated web site, no promotions, but still sells boats year in and year out and can't keep up with his current orders, I'll argue, because he (OK Rick, FX10 did it for him) openly posts detailed build pics of his boats on OSO and is not ashamed to stand by his tried and true methods of boat building. As a former 22 Talon owner, I know there is a niche for the 22 and I think you're passing an opportunity to expand the customer base.

I have dealt with or talked to most the greats in this business at one time or another. Peter HLedin is my idol and he has coached me from the first 1984 24' Skater my dad bought new back in 1984 to our 36' Skater. He even talked to me about my 30' Spectre's and other boats I have had that were not Skater's. Peter gave me a lot of advise from 1998 to 2002 on my F1 and F2 tunnel boat lay up. Not many people would do this. A lot of others have gained my respect like, Randy Scism, Jay Pilini, John Cosker, Bob Teague and many many more.
To answer the question about posting pictures of the build process. These are the guys who I collect data from, so I am trying to find a happy medium to protect those who have given me information to pleasing the customer.Last edited by Spectre Powerboats; 11-28-2015 at 07:28 PM.

You dont have to post build progress pics to here or any website to sell boats. Most companies dont and most buyers dont always understand what your even talking about when you say "lay up schedule" Any true potential buyer will pic up the phone and call and ask all the questions they care to ask. Just another opinion

I know this is a bit off topic, but do you mind people stopping to see the build? I'll be dragging my rig right by you on 75, and if I'm making good time would love to stop by. I've always been a huge fan of the 22 talon.
What's up Lankford, hope all is well.Last edited by FasterthanU; 07-22-2014 at 09:49 PM.
