Big thanks as always to the Branch County Sheriff for having two patrol boats on hand to keep the race course blocked off and clear from intruding lake traffic. Some good guys.

The cop with the hovercraft was zooming around by the sandbar and doing spin-outs and such to entertain the crowd and demonstrate the craft's handling abilities. I made sure to thank them all for being there. And ALWAYS a big thanks to the island owner Dale, for having all this cool stuff built since buying the island: The docks, the beach, the floating pavilion, the high-tech bathroom building, the tiki hut, the grills, the petting zoo...
Corn Island has become a great spot to bring the family on weekends, and an excellent event venue for the hot boat scene. I had a great time, and took my grudge spankings in stride. Thanks again to all.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

They also have event permits for August 9th and 30th, if anybody wants to come out and settle a score. I will try to make at least one of these dates for photo coverage.

Had a good time as always. Nice place and great event.
Thanks to all who didn't show or didn't run in the radar runs, so my boat could win top speed honors.

Hi, NIck Loomis here. I am the chairman that puts this event together for you guys. even with the weather forecast, i thought we had a great turn out! We try to listen to what you guy ask for. this year we held off on the radar runs until close to the end. Grudge races is what you wanted and that's what we gave you, or should i say you gave us! thank you guys so much keeping it flowing, even a few that said they didn't want to run, got caught up in the moment and got out there! i saw some new faces this year which means we are growing! aug. 30th we will have things set up to let you run again. hope to see you there!

Nick, is the August 9th date still a "go" for drag racing? Aaron R. (posts as "hot-rod 21" here) said this was one of the permit dates. I was planning on coming if there's going to be any turn-out. (I will probably be out of town on the 30th.)
Funny story to share: I was one of the first boats to pull up to the sandbar on Saturday (in the race boat parking area, of course.) Someone shouts from the dock, "Sir, this is for hot boat parking ONLY." I held my hands out like, "what's this look like? A fishing barge?" I know my boat "only" runs in the 90's, but I never heard someone accuse it of not "looking" fast enough to park alongside boats that I would later spank in the grudge drags. Tom yells back, "Yeah, he took off the grill and the trolling motor so he could park here." LOL. I was racing my boat at the sandbar back before it even had a dock.
I will continue to try to cover (and participate in) the events here. It's a fantastic event venue for the family and the performance boater alike, and it's only an hour's drive away from me. Until next time...'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI
