    Anyone use speedhut gauges?

I'm looking at one of their GPS speedo's. I just had one installed in a truck at work and it seems pretty slick. Was thinking about picking up one of their multi function GPS speedo's for my boat.

I'm thinking of using one also. When I spoke with them they said to order it sealed for marine use. The only other issue I can see is they're designed for use in a thin sheet metal dash, not a thick boat dash. Think you would have to just set it in the dash with silicone or something.

I installed the GPS speedometer on the race boat last year and it worked great.

I saw that to, not sure how to do it with angle bezel and the wood behind the dash. Drill and tap the back and install studs like other marine gauges? Then void warranty.

Well I spoke with Speedhut today and ordered one. No drilling the back for studs. Was told the circuit board was right up against the back and would be damaged drilling and also voids the warranty.
Will post more when I receive the gauge.

    Next great idea.lol
epoxy or Marine Text 2 threaded blocks of aluminum to the back of the gauge that would accept studs to mount the usual way.

That's along the lines I was thinking. Will wait and see once I get it. I'm not doing an angle bezel so it might just work.

    Update

I recieved my gauge. Wanted a white bezel but they don't offer one. Bought one anyway as they suggested I paint it, I'll let you know how that works out. The gauge will work on a dash up to about 1/2" thick. Mine was thicker so I thinned it down from the backside, not fun but I think it will work.

    Will keep you posted.

weld mount has good studs for this purpose, their glue is very very strong

That was the way I was thinking of going with the dash thickness and angle bezel.

Those look like they would work well also. I guess you could check with Speedhut if they would void the warranty.

I like the threaded body and ring they use but you are correct. The dash needs to be thinner than most marine apps. I have a set in an XR2001 and the threaded ring just barely catches the gauge. The little glue on studs look like the trick. Great idea.

Just got to see how my Speedhut GPS speedometer works. All good! Nice steady needle, good visibility lots of features in the odometer section of the gauge. You have to run two separate light power feeds. One illuminates the needle and the other for the gauge and one of those is witha little transformer. Would be nice if that was all inside the gauge for easier install.
As I said all good, really like the gauge.

I put a full set in my hydrostream when I restored it from the ground up in 2012.
Great customer service, warranty and product. They will customize them for you for minimal cost which is nice if you really want to make your boat special.
