Triad v21 prop / engine height question

Hey guys did a lot of reading of older post about the v21 but no one really talked about the engine height / prop combo. I have 12 inches of setback and I'm running a 2.5 260. Not looking for a full out top speed setup but more of a quick setup like in 1/2 mile. Just wondering what you guys are running. Have a 26 chopper on it right now. Thanks mark

I'm 12" back and at 3/4" above with an open bow version. I think the closed bows are closer to an inch. Oh and I'm running a 28 Pro Et.

Im running 9.5 inches of setback if i remember right and a half inch above the pad with a coned 200 lower. Several of us down here are running 28 lightning et's and love em.

I love the pro et. Plenty of bow lift and handles great.

Looks like I'm going to have to find a et to try out instead of the chopper prop that's on the boat now I don't like the hole shop with the chopper and I think it makes it drive a little funny too. Thanks for the info again. Any of you guys ever drag race your v21 ?

The lightning et's are pricey, but for me next to hydraulic steering it has been the best money ive spent. No, we dont race any with ours mainly just cruise around. The 28 seems to be right in the middle for what I like. thats my .02

I posted this awhile back. don't know exactly how high the shaft was......
    copied from an old post.......

A GPS can hurt your feelings.....
....but a new prop just made my day!!! I've got to share this with ya'll, it might help someone else.

1994 Traid V-21, with a 2001 Johnson 225 HO, with a 6 inch hydro plate. A Mazco 29 chopper stlye and also a 32 cleaver came with the boat. I thought it ran pretty good with these props, but until last week, I did not have a GPS. Now with a GPS, at 7000 rpm, (if my tach is right, I know it seems like it is screaming), the 32 ran a miserable 77.7 mph. Now I was full of fuel, but this made me just sick enough to do something. So I started looking, and talked with DS77 (Steve) and decided on a Hoss HPD 14 1/2 X 30 that he had for sale here on the boards. Just got back from trying it out, with a half tank of fuel, at 7000 rpm. What a prop, it blasts out the hole, and the boat feels way lighter than it did with the other props. Until I can get a Merc 280 or 300, this will do just fine.

Hang on to your hat folks, I just went 90 MPH. yea!!!!! Thanks Steve.

Wow that's a big difference!! I have a GPS in the boat so I'll check all my speeds of that. I know the factory speedo reads 5 mph high in my boat if I compare the too. 90 is moving. Hope mine runs that

X2 on using a gps. I dont turn mine on all the time mainly just for playing around. Hey superboat you might try messaging "Chummy" on here. I know he has a very fast triad and maybe some suggestions for your setup. Just a thought. goodluck with it
