New (to me) 25 Talon Carrier

Just got a 25 Talon Carrier (center console). It's got a single Yamaha 250. Really haven't had time to test & tune... As a single engine, I know it isn't going to be a speed demon, but I bought it more for the ride. Any one ever had one with a single? What kind of prop is best and what pitch? How about set back?

Boat ran 52 with a 3 blade 23 pitch mirage prop. That's with a 25 inch mid and the motor mounted on an Armstrong looking bracket, half tank fuel, and no lowwater pickup. I'm thinking on getting a jackplate, low-water pickup, and obviously a prop that is better. I'm thinking a bravo between 23-26 would probably work well, as I had a 26 bravo on my predator.

Maybe down the road I'll put twins on it. I remember an orange one with twins that went 88 or so. And there's another guy on here that has a hustler version and I think that runs into the 90's...

Any one know what kind of numbers one of these will put up with a fresh 300 that is dialed in? I'm guessing mid 60's, but I might be optimistic.

    More pics to come.

Excellent find. Please post more pictures when you get a chance. There have been several threads about the 25 on here that you should be able to search for and find.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

Lookin good! Like that green. I'm getting a transom put in mine now.... Once I get the transom in, I'm adding a bobs 6" action jack plate, low water pickup, and some kind of bravo prop. Hoping to gain 10 or so mph.

shortly after i bought mine i took it out with a half tank and the most i got was 83 but it also had a crazy stereo in it and the t-top... so by the time im done im hoping to gain 10 myself and be somewhere in the 90's. Who is doing the transom for you and what is it costing you?? just out of curiousity?? with a single 250 if you get into the 60's your doing great.. our boat is a large wide boat and not exactly light..... if your doing a transon might be the right time to go twins... im sure you can find another yamy 250 somewhere out there very reasonable!!! good luck!!

The guy w the hustler contacted me about trading for my predator. I would have done it, I just didn't have the 50,000 to give to him. Would have loved to get that thing though. I've been thinking about putting another Yamaha 250 on there... I know the motors are cheap, but it's all the other stuff you have get that really adds up- steering, rigging. Also I don't know where to get another "box" to mount another motor on. I looked at hydrodynamics setbacks and they're like 1k each!

Step 1 --> Get on a trailer that is not made for the boat. check.

Now taking to my mechanic and fiberglass guy for the transom. Replacing the bracket box with a bob's 10" Action Jack and putting a cone on the lower unit. Going to try a 4 blade Revolution prop.

    Nice ride

I doubt the cone will help at that speed.
