    2.5 Cylinder bore pictures info

Got the boat out on a different lake than I usually go to and made some nice long runs up and down the lake for a few hours. I now have approximately 4 hours on the engine and thought I would take a few snapshots to see what the insides looked like. I honestly do not know what to look for or how to read the pistons on an outboard but I hoped someone here could help me understand what I am looking at and what, if anything, needs to be done.

I ran the boat between 3000 RPM and about 4300 RPM all day with the exception of several no wake zones and having to drop off plane a few times for various reasons. I idled the boat for a couple minutes while waiting for my friend to back down the ramp and then loaded it on the trailer, shut it off and came to the shop and snapped some pictures. Pictures are numbered per cylinder and I see a distinct differentce between port and starboard, but again I do not know what exactly I am looking at (other than pistons haha) Port images in next post.

I am just wondering if things were looking proper or is it to soon to know much with just 4 hours run time.

I didn't yank heads, I bought a USB camera off eBay and wanted to try it out. The pistons are factory Mercury stock equipment.

You will have to finish the break in before you can read the pistons. When you idle they will get very wet and dry when running hard and you can not run it hard right now. You can forget using the camera at that time as well as they will be a ton of glare as I have tried. What carbs did you go with? You are running 93 octane right?

At the moment I am running the WMV 5 that came on the powerhead. I figured they would work fine for break in. Yes sir I am using 93 octane. I just wanted am excise to play with my new camera and thought I'd I could learn something wow playing I would be double happy. LoL
