    repowered from 98 225 opti too a 2011 300xs (guage problem)

So I installed the new motor and was told all I needed was a harness for the 9 pin to 14 or so pin harness. Well tac works trim works but trim gauge does not and also my 4 light dumby gauge does not flash when turn key on.also I don't know if temp works because it's cold yet and water is cold I ran it in the launch to fire it up but waiting on fat shaft hub too arrive.the boat is an 02 pulsars. There are 4 or 5 wires not plugged in with no we're to go on the new motor from the 9 pin harness! Hope for someone to give me some guidance please on what is needed. Thank you.

I don't know the set up of a 98 225 opti but presuming it's the same as a 260/280... this will be part of the issue.

Some of the 300XS trim sending units are digital and don't work with an analog gauge. They will work with a smartcraft gauge or you have to switch to an analog sending unit in the motor (if they still have them). I switched to a smartcraft gauge and later daisy chained a digital trim gauge to that one for instant readouts. If you do have the analog trim sending unit, I believe the color for the wire is Brown/White and it's going to be outside of the plug in harness. But I don't know if just having that wire means you have the analog sending unit.

Also your temp gauge is most likely analog and there is a wire under the cowl that is separate from the plug in harness that you would need to hook that gauge up to. I believe it is Tan in color. In mine, I hooked that wire to the analog temp gauge and again daisy chained a slave digital temp gauge to the smartcraft gauge so I had two temp gauges. But you only need one or the other.
