fine tooth starters
anyone no the part number for the fine tooth gear that fits the old school 2.4 flywheel. Its the smaller gear and fine tooth flywheel. thanks for all the help guys

my 81 225's are 9 tooth pinion/ starter # 50-86976 1806440merc. bendix number

I had an old aluminum flywheel once that took the 10 tooth bendix. Part was NLA. I ended up using a 10 tooth bendix off a late 90's 90hp Merc 3cyl. It worked....wasn't perfect but worked.
