Replacing fuel tank
Anyone have details or even better, pictures, on replacing a fuel tank?
The place I'm having it made, suggests gluing neoprene rubber with 5200 to the bottom of the tank and securing tank to the stringers using metal straps instead of mounting tabs.
I removed the old tank using 2 bottle jacks on each side of tank and a 4 x 4 piece of wood with 2 chains bolted to the mounting tabs. Once i started jacking the chains got tight and held the 4 x 4 in place and this poped the tank out. Got the info from someone on the Hull Truth. The foam under the tank was completely saturated with gas must have been a few gallons on there. Right now I'm working on replacing some rotted wood from the gas and where water must have been getting in and refiberglassing the compartment since it really wasn't built to the dimensions of the tank since they were using the foam to make it fit.

Must be a big tank! It sounds like you have everything figured just be careful because whatever you stick with that 5200 is there PERMANENTLY! Also, be sure whatever straps you use won't rub the tank too much! Maybe glue some rubber to the straps so it doesn't rub a hole in the tank

Thanks, although most of the talk was about Mikes filling up issues. My boat is a 1990 Team Shadow so it's similar design as the boats mentioned. I'll go with rubber, mounting straps and foam in the corners. I did like the idea of shoving rubber hose between tank and stringers, sure wouldn't hurt
