I agree 100% they are a hard to\handle up top. ive heard a lot of great comments about a solas scorpion prop. the slip # were amazing 7% on some setups there really inexpensive brand new, im thinking of buying one 15/24,

IT does add a little pitch mostly reduces slip and good hole shot up high I dont know this mod on a thru hub mines an over hub. i just bought my last prop a scorpion sittin in the box installed a foot throttle feels safer. just gotta get it to the ramp and see what that solas does! ART

The only way to truly reduce slip is to increase blade area. Adding cup is just adding pitch. Yes it may hold the water on the blade a little better but only really noticeable on holeshot. If you have a prop with a very low slip number it has more pitch than you think.

lengthening cup around blades of 24" and 26"choppers allowed us to pull up slalom skiers with 2/3 in boat up when 150/175 hp motors(both Johnson and Merc) were mounted on Venturas that we sold new in the 1970's.inline choppers- V6 choppers were not out yet.-th

Rich Junker at Leading Edge called me on the two wheels I just sent him.
said there was no cup on the leading edges and therefore both props had zero "rake" which my heavy ass Checlmate needs.
on cup, it works. I've added it myself to several props and took them from losers to head of the class.&I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

there is a prop site somewhere that explains alot about props. from what i read rake is the amount that the blades angle back away from hub. if you lay prop on table. blades on table. the higher the hub is from touching table the more rake the prop has. more rake makes more bow lift. seems to be true if you compare cleavers to chopper props. some cleavers the hub will touch table before the blades. a chopper will have a couple inches between hub and table.
