Ever seen a boat like this 1969 Beisemeyer with an old Mercury 150HP outboard??

Just bought this boat two days ago. It's been in a barn for a long long time and was run for the past three years. The motor started up and ran but I've not had it in the water. Compression was 128-142 across the board. This motor has a trim pump that is separate from the outboard. The guy I got it from is about 71 years old. Said that last Summer he took it up to 72 MPH with his buddy.

It's a 1969 Beisemeyer. And I am not finding very much out about the outboard models. Do you know which model this is called? Most of the ones that I have seen have big blocks and are two seaters. What do you think?

I didn't know that they put out any outboards. Nice find!
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

Might be titled as a Beisemeyer, maybe they even made it. Sure looks like a splash of a Sidewinder to me.
There was a lot of that going on in the 60's and 70's.

If you can trace back the details and determine it truly is a B, you have a very rare piece there. Good luck.

Sweet looking ride you have there. I do think that modern technology (GPS) is going to somewhat dampen the "72 MPH" top speed a bit though.

Hope so. I can't find any pictures of any running an outboard.

The fastests boat I've ever owned topped out around 45mph. And I thought I was flying.

I have a feeling that 55 is going to feel like I'm hauling ass in this thing. Been a boater my entire life. Never been in anything like this. I really have no idea what to expect.

Don't know the term speed master, but I'm open.

Pretty sure that I am going to leave this thing lone. The entire haul is good and it has no cracks or cut outs in teh fiberglass. I'll build a cooler with a built in radio.

Do these things dig hard into turns? Anything about how this type of boat would handle?

Been racing cars / bikes / whatever for a long time. Not looking to do anything stupid, hence the question. Never had any type of go-fast boat. Looking forward to playing with this one.

Does it have HIN# that should tell you who made it.

Looks almost exactly like my old 16' Tahiti built by schuster, but sides are slightly different, probably a splash

I would pick up a water impeller and install it before you start it up again. You may end up with dry rotted chunks of rubber in the water passage ways otherwise. Not sure what this site has to offer with the L6's Iboats.com has a Out board Mercury forum and they can help you with issues/maintenance questions such as the diaphram on your fuel pump/fuel line and primer bulb that may need replacing as well as oil fuel mix 50-1 and grade of gas depending on your timing.Get the serial number of the swivel plate so you can find out what year the motor is.Agree sweet ride, not a SS prop which would add a couple mph if tached out correctly. I don't see 72 with out a jack plate/chopper/cleaver prop and low water pickup, maybe 55 -60 with the current set up. Is there a pad [flat surface on the bottom of the hull from the transom forward maybe 24" x12" ] on it,can't tell from the pictures.

I think this site can more than help with L6s. --- Let the boys chime in!!! Gary

That's got the rounded keel? Back in the day a beach member had one with the 150. It had an aluminum prop IIRC and was rocking and rolling over 60. Was a Tahiti but there were many others with at least 2 deck style.

Another buddy had one that looked like yours but was a Marlin. Had 140 OMC and was very nice boat.
