07-28-2017, 12:52 AM #319Messing round with boats is fun !! the learning never stops ,even after more than 30 years there's always something new happening somewhere ! BUT somethings never change and some problems never go away and just keep reoccurring !!so moved into Composite Forensics , Now that something completely new !!

I think you try this. use some filler and build up wedges on the outter wings of the hull at the very back of the hull. It will also help the boat turn without the hop. My Viper doesnt hop in a straight line, but I like to over trim when running slow to get the hull up out of the water more. When I turn it hops like a mother F%$^er. But once straight again it stops. I think you should take your batter and just put it up by your feet, run cables to it and take it out for a slow ride. If it helps then glass a battery tray in. It can sit there for one slow run!

I've ran mine w/o and with. I like it better with. Just seems like it stabilizes the boat at higher speeds giving it down force.. More aerodynamic, looks better too.

I've never ran with one on a Viking,BUT all the input I've got over the years suggest that windshield helps to hold the nose down and may be a tad faster.I personally like the looks without. My first new stream a 77 vector ran well into the high 90s and was less flighty than the potato chip King.

Ok. Got 2 40# bags of water softner salt all the way up at the bow hook under the duck to try out today. First up is brothers Bravo 1 prop 24" and next is a 26 Trophy for today.. hopefully i can squeeze in some new plugs and do a plug chop. Because these 90s and 9w jets are done being used for the break in peroid.

Thats a lot of weight way up there. I dont know the ratio but 10 lbs in the bow is like 50 lbs at the drivers seat (again, i am guessing on this ratio). But 80 lbs is alot in the bow like that. I would move them back some to where you may mount the battery if you decide to move it up there by your feet.

The comp Viking comes with a pre drilled weight board glassed from the center of the top deck,to the keel.It has four or five holes drilled through it and according to PIpkorn was for bolting scuba weights to it,for mod VP. IMO 15/20lbs that far forward, should make a noticeable difference.
