Afraid you'll have to get in touch with Roger H to get that information--------it's only had two coats of wax up to now, I can scrub it with acetone if you like, but you may have to sand it down again------ash is bloody hard but the grain lifts easy!
If push comes to shove John, I have a chunk of white holly that I can carve another hull out of, I'll do that in the morning and send you a foggie--------the white wood will look great with a posh paint job !
You want me to fit the fin, or just send it to you as is ?
have to do the front manifold and carb set up------should get it done by the weekend, will post it Monday. You could take it to the spring meeting in Tavares!

I remember the boat from the owner prior to Roger as I cut down the transom for him.I believe it was yellow.Don't worry about the wax,I sanded it off the tunnels that you made for me & paint stuck.Actually,it's not a DeSilva, it's a Terrell, a copy.

The snow is not as much fun as it once was---spending winters in Tucson is easier on the old body--Pima Air Museum is now number three in the country--(I bet your Dad was in the B-24's?)

Wish you told me that before I did the looper Roger, 650 XS is a whole lot easier than the looper!

Just remembered I got a boxwood log ( it's used for intricate inlays and the very best tool handles fountain pens and pill boxes). Now that would make a nice Terrell, it's also one of the world's most expensive timber. I haven't used it for years-------guess i'm just a cheapskate at heart.

Small world init? My dad flew Halifax's, did 36 trips over Germany and lived until he was over 90.
Base was Linton-On-Ouse, just outside York main thing I remember is going to the pub, I think it was called The "ALICE HAWTHORNE "

Lump of holly was was a tad short, topped up looking more like a Hal Kelly kneeler, fantastic lump though
ripples are in the grain, not in the preparation-------will chuck it in the parcel, do what you want with it John.

Jackie. The base Dad flew from is now the site of the other 390th Bomb Group museum. The land owner never took down the tower and a couple of other buildings. Local folks have restored them and created a small museum there. My cousin and I are trying to plan a trip to visit the base as well as the village in Ireland where my grandfather grew up.

I visited Framlingham (along with quite a few other 8th AAF bases) some 15years ago lots to see.. although the runways have been lifted, reason being there is not many hard stone quarries in that part of the world thus anything suitable is crushed and re-used.
I understand part of the control/watch tower has been restored into a museum.

Anybody who visits any of these old fields and feels no emotion or feeling must have a lump of cold marble for a heart...

Try to get there even if you have to catch a bus and put up with the rain while you walk around you won't regret it.

A good read is AIRFIELDS OF THE EIGHTH-THEN AND NOW on E-bay I'm sure in the States.

    Sorry to butt in.............Phill.

...After 140 years as the local Tavern, the Alice Hawthorne served it's last pint, in 1999. It is now a restored house...
